After it appeared offense would be at a premium with three scoreless innings to start the game, Altamont scored in 10 runs in three innings and held South Central scoreless for a 10-0 win in National Trail Conference action on Tuesday. Both teams were able to put runners in scoring position in the first three innings, with South Central even having bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the second inning after back to back singles by Luke Shumate and Kaiden Harrell, before Altamont pitcher Kade Milleville was able to get out of the jam. The Indians were able to open the scoring though in the top of the fourth inning when Kaiden Wolff tagged up at third base on a flyout to centerfield by Carson Milleville to take a 1-0 lead. A leadoff single by Reed Stuemke in the top of the fifth inning followed by a double from Kade Milleville and a walk by Cooper McManaway loaded the bases and Zaine Miller drew the bases loaded walk to edge the Altamont lead to 2-0. A 2 RBI double by Wolff then scored McManaway and Miller as Altamont’s lead grew to 4-0. South Central threatened again with two runners on and one out in the bottom of the fifth inning, but again K. Milleville got out of the jam. The game was blown open by the Indians in the top of the sixth inning as Altamont it on with six runs getting RBI doubles from K. Milleville and McManaway and RBI singles from Brayden Elam and C. Milleville. South Central had no answer in the bottom of the sixth inning as three straight groundouts would end the game. Altamont moves to 5-4 on the season and 3-1 in the NTC with another conference game coming up for them at home on Friday. South Central is now 4-5 on the season and 1-3 in the NTC and they will play at Odin/Patoka/Sandoval on Thursday.
