After an 0-3 start to the season, South Central Cougars baseball is now at .500 on the season after getting a 6-1 win over Wayne City at home on Thursday marking their third win in a row. With a pair of runners on base in the bottom of the first inning, a sacrifice fly from Hudson Moore scored Aiden Hoover for a 1-0 South Central lead. The Indians tied the game up at 1-1 in the second inning but the Cougars would regain the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Tyson Jones hit a solo home run to lead off the half inning to put South Central up 2-1. An inning later in the bottom of the fourth, Sebastian Kruger singled to bring in a run and Isaac Guerrettaz followed that with a fielder’s choice to shortstop to bring in another run and put the Cougars out in front, 4-1. The game’s scoring would be capped off in the fifth inning when the Cougars scored on a sacrifice fly and RBI single from Luke Shumate brought in a final run for a 6-1 South Central lead which held through scoreless sixth and seventh innings to give the Cougars the 6-1 win. South Central is now 3-3 on the season and will get right back at it tonight as they host St. Anthony for a National Trail Conference game under the lights at 7:00pm at Lions Field in Kinmundy.
