Dieterich Can't Hold Off OPS Despite 15-Hit Game

Dieterich baseball outhit Odin/Patoka/Sandoval 15 hits to 7 hits but took the tough 13-11 loss on the road on Thursday. The Maroons wasted no time  getting on the scoreboard with a pair of first inning runs but OPS matched that with two of their own in the bottom of the inning to end the first inning in a 2-2 tie. The Maroons put up a run in both the second and third innings for a 4-2 lead. Again the Eagles responded and retook the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Dieterich trailed 5-4. The Maroons showed timely hitting with men on base in the fourth inning, using a pair of singles and a pair of doubles to drive in six runs and regain the lead, 10-5. As was the story for the game to that point, OPS responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game up at 10-10 to end the fourth. Dieterich tacked on a run in the fifth inning to again retake the lead, 11-10, but OPS pushed three runs across the plate in the bottom of the fifth for a 13-11 lead. The Maroons were unable to produce any runs in the sixth or seventh and would take the 13-11 loss.
