Altamont baseball has dropped four straight games after a 2-0 start following a 10-0 loss to North Clay at home in National Trail Conference action on Tuesday. The Cardinals put up four runs in the top of the first inning on a walk, a pair of singles and a pair of doubles as the Indians trailed 4-0 before their first at bat. Zaine Miller singled to get on base in the bottom of the first inning for Altamont and his courtesy runner Kale Davis advanced to third on an error and then a passed ball, but the runner was stranded at third base to end the inning. Miller, on the mound for the Indians, was able to get out of several jams over the next several innings to keep North Clay at bay but Altamont struggled to get baserunners on as the 4-0 deficit held for the Indians through the end of the fifth inning. The Cardinals offense picked up again in the top of the sixth inning as the Cardinals strung together several singles and doubles as well as a few walks to put six runs up on the scoreboard and Altamont deficit grew to 10-0. The Indians put a baserunner on in the bottom of the sixth inning on a single by Kade Milleville, but a pop out ended the game as Altamont fell 10-0. The Indians are 2-4 on the season and 2-1 in the NTC and will look to bounce back on Thursday night when they face Ramsey under the lights for a 7:00pm start.
