Altamont Soccer Shuts Out Vandalia Behind Pals and Rosales Hat Tricks


Altamont got off to quick start with three goals in the first six minutes and used that to propel them to a 9-0 win over Vandalia on Tuesday evening. The first Altamont goal came just over three and a half minutes into the game when a Vandalia handball in the penalty box gave the Indians a penalty kick that was converted by Cooper Pals for a 1-0 lead. Just over a minute after that, Mason Suey was able to score to make it 2-0 Altamont at the 35:17 left to go mark of the first half. Aiden Rosales then score the first of his three goals in the game on a short shot just outside the goal box to make it 3-0 Indians. Just four minutes later, Rosales again connected on a short shot in the penalty area for a 4-0 Altamont lead and then again just over four minutes later, chipped a shot into the upper left corner of the goal for his third straight goal to complete the hat trick and give Altamont a 5-0 lead. With just under 17 minutes to go in the first half, Cooper Pals scored his second goal of the game for a 6-0 Altamont lead. The Vandals had some late opportunities on goal in the first half inside the last ten minutes as Nic Jackson missed on a header across the front of the goal and Logan Richards was unable to connect on a shot from the left side. Pals tallied his own hat trick after connecting on an unassisted goal in the second half and Micah Tenpenny and Chase Pals also scored in the second half for the 9-0 Altamont win. The Indians are now 2-4 on the season and will host Carlyle on Thursday. Vandalia drops to 0-2-1 on the season and will be on the road again on Thursday at Effingham.
