BSE Shuts out CHBC in NTC Action

The Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers earned their second NTC win of the week, getting a 3-0 victory over the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats behind a phenomenal pitching performance from Jayce Gillespie. After three scoreless innings, BSE got on the board after Dodge Willms led off with a single. Willms would steal second and advance to third on a wild pitch, and would come home to score off a sacrifice fly from Lucas Lach to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead. The Bombers would add insurance runs in the fifth inning when Gillespie scored on a wild pitch, and Willms scored on a balk to make the score 3-0. The Bobcats would make things interesting in the bottom of the seventh when Isaac Wells and Conor Vaughn reached on walks, but Gillespie would force a fly out, and back-to-back strikeouts to secure the 3-0 victory. The win improves BSE to 3-2 on the year, and 2-0 in NTC play. They will be at home on Tuesday to take on St. Anthony. The Bobcats fall to 0-3 on the year, and 0-2 in NTC play. They will be at home on Tuesday to take on South Central.
