Altamont soccer went on the road again Wednesday, dropping its first two games of the Charleston Red/Gold Tournament to tough teams from Effingham and Newton. The Indians held the Hearts down early in the first game before Effingham went on a scoring blitz to lead Altamont 5-0 at the half. The Indians were able to get on the scoreboard as Cooper Pals was able to score on a header by the Hearts added on two more goals in the half to defeat Altamont 7-1. The Indians had little time to dwell on the loss as they had to change uniforms and get right back into action against Newton. Despite no rest time, Altamont played tough, keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard but were held scoreless as well. Newton was able to break through though late in the second half for a 1-0 lead, but the Indians were unable to respond, taking the 1-0 loss. Altamont drops to 0-3 on the season but will look to rebound after a couple days off when they return to action in the tournament on Saturday against an opponent still to be determined.
