Three-Run Third Inning Fuels BSE to 4-3 Win Over South Central

South Central opened up scoring with a first inning run, but Brownstown-St. Elmo put up three runs in the third inning to fuel them a 4-3 win in the National Trail Conference opener for both teams on Tuesday. An RBI double by Kaiden Harrell with a runner at first gave South Central a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. That lead was short lived though as BSE tied things up, 1-1, on an RBI groundout by Benji Lowe. The Cougars regained the lead in the bottom of the second inning as a double to right field from Chase Guerrettaz brought in two runs to put South Central up 3-1. Again, the lead would not stand for long as a single to left field by Nolan Wilhour scored a pair of runs to tie things up at 3-3 and that tie was broken when Lowe drew a bases loaded walk to bring in another run and give the Bombers the 4-3 lead. Both teams would tighten the reins and flash their defenses over the next four and a half innings including each team having inning ending diving plays in centerfield by South Central’s Hudson Moore and BSE’s Lucas Powell that would keep things scoreless as BSE would hold on for the 4-3 win. Dodge Willms got the complete game win for BSE while Guerrettaz took the loss for South Central. The Bombers improve to 2-1 on the season and start NTC play at 1-0. They will be on the road again on Thursday at Wayne City. South Central drops to 0-3 to start the season and to 0-1 in the NTC. They will be back in action today at Webber.
