CHBC baseball suffered a tough 12-2 loss to North Clay to open up National Trail Conference play on Tuesday. North Clay opened up scoring with nine runs in the second inning and another in the third inning to take a 10-0 lead. The Bobcats were able to get on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning. With the leadoff batter, Jonah Hardimon hit by the pitch and Daithyn Arnold drawing a walk, the Bobcats had runners at first and second when a passed ball allowed the runners to move up to second and third. Another passed ball allowed Hardimon to score before a RBI single from Clive Schlanser brought in Arnold as CHBC cut the North Clay lead to 10-2. The Cardinals struck back in the bottom of the fifth and put two more runs across the plate to trigger the run rule and hand CHBC the 12-2 loss. The Bobcats drop to 0-2 to start the season and will play again on Friday at home against Brownstown-St. Elmo.
