Male Athletes of the Year:
Ben Roedl, Altamont: Roedl finished his high school career at Altamont with big seasons in all three sports in which he competed. In just his second soccer season, Roedl was third on the team in goals with 10 and also assisted on 3 others. The senior forward wrapped up his high school basketball career with a strong season for the Indians nearly averaging a double-double and was named to the National Trail Conference Tournament Team and earned Second Team NTC All-Conference honors. In his top sport, track and field, Roedl finished his high school career as the 2025 IHSA 1A Triple Jump State Champion and finished Second in the High Jump and Third in the Long Jump to finish in the Top 3 of all his events. He broke He will now go on to compete collegiately for Division I Eastern Illinois University.
Kohnor Depew, Vandalia: Depew had a breakout year his junior year beginning with football where he was a force on offense and now sits seconds all time for the Vandals in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Depew was named First Team All-Conference Offensive Skills Positions and Second Team All-Conference Defensive Backs for the South Central Conference and was also named to the 2A All-State Team. Then in the Spring, Depew competed in both baseball and track and the field at the same time. In baseball, Depew led the Vandals in slugging percentage and was second in batting average and was named First Team All-Conference as an outfielder for the South Central Conference. In track, Depew competed for the first time as a high school athlete, and made his name known. He qualified for State in all four of his events, finishing 8th in the 100m Dash and 6th in the 200m Dash. Depew broke the VCHS school records in both the 100m Dash and 200m Dash and then beat and reset his own record several times through the season and helped the 4×100 and 4×200 in breaking those school records as well.
