2024-25 "Best Of"--All Area Softball Team


All Area Team (in no particular order):

Kaitlyn Swift, South Central – The senior shortstop was as sound as they come in the middle infield for the Lady Cougars with one error in 85 chances for a .988 fielding percentage on the season. Swift had just as strong a season at the plate with a .352 batting average, .459 on base percentage and .888 OPS. Swift had 19 RBI, scored 28 runs and had 8 stolen bases. She was named First Team All-Conference for the NTC and will play collegiately at Olney Central College.

Taylor Stone, Mulberry Grove – The senior third baseman finished her career at Mulberry Grove with a bang, hitting .567 with a .635 on base percentage, 1.568 OPS and .933 slugging percentage. She led the Lady Aces with 34 hits including 6 home runs and 28 RBI. Stone was named Second Team All-State and All-Conference for the Egyptian Illini Conference and will play collegiately at Arkansas State University Mid South.

Jenni Mezo, Mulberry Grove – The senior stepped up into a new role for the Lady Aces in her final season moving from shortstop to catcher and as she did in the middle infield, Mezo was a stable leader, ending the season with a .980 fielding percentage. Batting in the leadoff spot, Mezo would finish the season with a .429 batting average with eight extra base hits and led the team in stolen bases with 13. She was named All-Conference for the Egyptian Illini Conference and received Third Team All-State honors.

Kyra Swift, South Central – The senior centerfielder wrapped up her high school career with a solid season at the plate and in the field. Swift would commit just two errors on the season for a .939 fielding percentage and 27 put outs. At the plate, she hit .326 from the leadoff spot with a .452 on base percentage with 15 RBI and 15 stolen bases on the season. She was named First Team All-Conference for the NTC and will play collegiately at Olney Central College.

Lily Johnson, Mulberry Grove – The senior pitcher was once again the steady presence in the circle for the Lady Aces taking on all but three innings of the pitching duties this season. Johnson would end the season with a 12-8 record, striking out 171 while allowing just 37 runs and recording an2.170 ERA and holding opposing hitters to a .190 batting average. At the plate, Johnson hit .403 with a .461 on base percentage and a .627 slugging percentage while racking up 26 RBI. She was named the Egyptian Illini Conference MVP and also named Second Team All-State. Johnson will go on to play collegiately at Missouri Baptist University.

Dayana Haslett, SEB – The SEB sophomore infielder/pitcher led off the lineup for the Lady Eagles and hit .396 on the season with a .491 on base percentage and .908 OPS. She led the team in hits with 19, runs scored with 13 and stolen bases with 13. Haslett was named All-Conference for the Egyptian Illini Conference and First Team for the National Trail Conference.

Mady McCall, Vandalia – The sophomore infielder/pitcher had a big year at the plate batting .438 to lead the Lady Vandal, also recording a .500 on base percentage, 1.212 OPS and a .712 slugging percentage. McCall had 14 extra base hits, including three home runs to go with 9 doubles and a pair of triples. She had 21 singles and drove in 15 runs while scoring 17 herself. McCall also pitched 29.2 innings for the Lady Vandals with a 4.95 ERA.

Macee Rodman, CHBC – The senior catcher/middle infielder finished up her high school career with a solid season, batting .385 for the year with a .510 on base percentage and .920 OPS with 7 RBI and 9 stolen bases. In the field, she would finish the season with a .920 fielding percentage and was names All-Conference for the Egyptian Illini Conference and Honorable Mention for the National Trail Conference.

Kinlee Thompson, South Central – The junior outfielder/pitcher was strong at the plate as well as when called upon to start six games on the mound for the Lady Cougars. Thompson hit .385 with a 1.05 OPS and .467 on base percentage. She led the team in hits with 35, nine of which were extra base hits including four home runs. In the circle, Thompson went 5-1 in her six games started on the mound with a 1.93 ERA. She was named Honorable Mention for the National Trail Conference.

Bella Walk, Vandalia – The freshman catcher/infielder broke out in her first high school season hitting .385 with a .461 on base percentage, 1.063 OPS and a .603 slugging percentage. Of her 30 hits, 11 were extra base hits with six doubles, four triples and a home run. She drove in 12 runs and scored 19 with 10 stolen bases. She was a steady hand in the field with a .953 fielding percentage, committing just six errors on 127 total fielding chances.

Mia Waggoner, Ramsey – The sophomore catcher led the young Lady Rams 2025 squad with a .429 batting average, .484 on base percentage and ,536 slugging percentage. She also had a .960 fielding percentage with just one error. She was named All-Conference for the Egyptian Illini Conference.

Maddie Peddicord, South Central – The freshman pitcher/first baseman was called upon to cover nearly half of the innings played the Lady Cougars in her first high school season and ended with a 9-4 record in the circle. She recorded 112 strikeouts and finished the season with a 2.84 ERA. At the plate, Peddicord hit .360 with a 1.057 OPS and .618 slugging percentage as she had 14 extra base hits with 9 doubles and 4 home runs. She tallied 24 RBI and scored 33 runs.

Callye Earnest, Mulberry Grove – The senior outfielder quietly put together a strong season for the Lady Aces anchoring the outfield, playing all but one game of the season mostly in centerfield and holding down the middle of the lineup. Earnest hit .352 with a 1.020 OPS, .446 on base percentage and .574 slugging percentage. She was second on the team with three home runs and drove in 11 runs. In the field, she was steady with an .881 fielding percentage and just three errors. She earned Honorable Mention honors for the Egyptian Illini Conference.

Elaina Hagy, Vandalia – The freshman infielder/catcher had a big first year for the Lady Vandals batting .350 with a .429 on base percentage, .904 OPS and a .475 slugging percentage. She led Vandalia in RBI with 20 and in runs scored with 22 runs for the season while also recording 14 stolen bases. She had a .913 fielding percentage and helped turn four double plays.
