South Central Walks It Off in 12th Inning to Beat Altamont 2-1 – After adding the game late in the afternoon on Thursday, May 1 and then eventually having a change of location from Altamont to Kinmundy due to wet field conditions, South Central and Altamont baseball teams battled for just over 11 ½ innings until the Cougars walked it off for the 2 to 1 win over the Indians. Altamont had Cooper McManaway reach base on a Cougar error in the top of the first inning and he stole second and then advanced to third base and scored on another Cougar error to put the Indians up 1-0. South Central tied the game up in the bottom of the second inning when an RBI single from Luke Shumate brought in Eli Heistand to score as the game was knotted up 1-1. The teams then held each other scoreless for nine innings as Trevan Sidwell and Zane Montes combined for South Central to allow just two hits and Kade Milleville and Dyson Wagner for Altamont combined to allow just four hits across those scoreless innings. Altamont threatened to score in the top of the 12th inning as Kade Milleville doubled and advanced to third base on a passed ball, but a strikeout ended the inning and the Altamont scoring threat. Coming up to bat in the bottom of the 12th, Seth Jones doubled to center field and then came in to score the game winning run on a RBI single by Colton Smith that walked it off the Cougars for the 2-1 win.
