Vandals win Abe’s Rumble Tournament–The Vandals were already rolling along coming into the post-Christmas showdown tournament against some of the top dual team competition in the state. The Vandals rolled to wins over Mt. Zion, Morrison, Illini Bluffs, Westville, El Paso-Gridley, Chicago Hope and LeRoy to roll into the semi-finals. The Vandals would then knock off two of the top teams in the state–beating Coal City and Marian Central Catholic to claim their first title at Abe’s Rumble.
Coach Jason Clay reaching 500 career dual team wins--It had already been announced well before the season that the 2024-25 season would be Coach Clay’s last as the Vandals Wrestling Head Coach. And, when the season started, it seemed like getting to 500 career dual team victories might be a very tough hill to climb. But, the Vandals put together an incredible season and got Coach Clay over the mark right at the end of the regular season. Coach Clay would finish his career with a record of 504-110 that also includes 15 trips to dual team state, 6 team trophies and ending with his induction into the Hall of Fame.
