2024-25 "Best Of"--All Area Boys Basketball Team


All Area Team (in no particular order)

Cooper McManaway, Altamont – The freshman guard hit the ground running, quickly making his way into the starting lineup. He averaged 10.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1 steal a game during the 24-25 season. He finished second on the team with 329 points and shot 65% from the free throw line.

Graidon Wilhour, SEB – The sophomore guard became the St. Elmo-Brownstown single season leader for 3-pointers made with 88, surpassing the old record of 73. Wilhour averaged 15.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game during the season in which he was named to the National Trail Conference All-Tournament Team, Second Team NTC All-Conference and was named MVP of the Egyptian Illini Conference.

Jackson Icenogle, Mulberry Grove – The junior had a strong season averaging 18 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game for the Aces. He scored his 1000th career point during a February 11th win for the Aces at Ramsey. During the season, he was named to the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving All-Tournament Team, St. Elmo Holiday Tournament’s Second Team All-Tournament Team and following the season, was name First Team Egyptian Illini All-Conference.

Westin Neilsen, South Central – The sophomore guard had a big season for the Cougars after stepping up into a Varsity role in a breakout freshman year. Neilson led South Central in scoring for the season and averaged 15.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and one assist per game. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Dieterich Holiday Tournament and the National Trail Conference Tournament and following the season, was named Second Team All-Conference for the NTC.

Lowell Wilhour, SEB – The senior averaged 13.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.8 steals per game in high final high school season. He was named to the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament’s Second Team All-Tournament, was First Team Egyptian Illini All-Conference and Honorable Mention National Trail All-Conference for the season.

Wade Brannon, Vandalia – Brannon served as the anchor for the Vandals offense and defense during the 24-25 season, leading the team in scoring and being second in rebounding as he averaged 15.9 points and 6 rebounds a game. Brannon hit a career milestone on February 20, surpassing 1,000 career points in a win at home over Pana. Brannon was named to the Cumberland Thanksgiving All-Tournament Team, Vandalia Holiday All-Tournament Team and earned First Team All-Conference honors for the South Central Conference.

Andrew Casey, Vandalia – The Vandals sophomore was a steady presence for the Vandals on both sides of the ball during the 24-25 season. Using his size on the boards and moving the ball in transition were key parts to Casey’s game as he averaged 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals a game for the Vandals. He was named Second Team All-Conference for the South Central Conference.

Seth Bergmann, South Central – The senior forward was an offensive and defensive key in the paint for the 19-13 Cougars in his final season while also being known to step out and become a three point threat from the top of the key. Bergmann finished the season averaging 9.2 points and 4.25 rebounds for the Cougars. He was named a member of the All-Tournament Team at the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament.

Issac Sachan, Vandalia – The senior point guard worked through a tough mid-season injury but missed just a few games and was a steady hand in moving the ball for the Vandals and playing tough defense while also stepping up with a few key big scoring games when needed. Sachan averaged 5.9 points and 3.4 assists per game for the Vandals during his final high school season.

Ben Roedl, Altamont – The senior forward wrapped up his high school career with a strong season averaging 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game playing in all but one game during the season as an anchor for the starting frontcourt. For his efforts in the season, Roedl was named to the National Trail Conference Tournament Team and earned Second Team NTC All-Conference honors.
