Altamont High School grad and current Kaskaskia College pitcher Dillan Elam earned King of the Week honors for the pitching staff of the Sawmills TimberKings of the Old North State League in North Carolina this week. In two games played on June 4 and 7, Elam pitched six shutout innings, giving up just three hits with the no runs allowed while striking out five batters, walking seven batters and finishing the week with an ERA of 0.00. Overall on the season, Elam has pitched 14 innings to lead the TimberKings with only eight hits and two runs allowed across four games pitched in while striking out 18 of the 60 batters he’s faced and walking 10. Elam sits at a 1.00 ERA for the season while holding opposing batters to a .170 batting average. This the inaugural season for the TimberKings in the ONSL, a summer college baseball league. After wrapping up ONSL league play at the end of July, Elam is set to be a sophomore for the Kaskaskia College Blue Devils next school year after appearing in 15 games this last Spring.
