Altamont's Ben Roedl Gets Three Top 3 Finishes at 1A State Track Finals, Is Triple Jump State Champion

Altamont senior jumper Ben Roedl finished his high school track career in a big way as he placed in the top 3 of all three of his jump events including grabbing the top spot to be State Champion in the Triple Jump. Having to alternate between long jump and high jump at the same time, Roedl was able to secure a third place finish in the long jump to start his day with a best jump of 22’ 1.5”. He then secured a second place finish in the High Jump, clearing a height of 6’ 5.5”. After one upping himself in his first two events of the day, Roedl capped off his State Finals with a dominating performance in the Triple Jump as he had a best jump of 45’ 10.5” to win the State title in the event by 13 inches over the second place finisher who jumped 44’ 9.5”. With his three top 3 finishes on the day, Roedl earned 25 points in the final meet of his high school track career. Thos points earned him another uncommon feat as he finishes his high school track career with over 1,000 points, standing at 1,003 points, a total that would have been even higher should Roedl not have missed time and meets due to an injury his junior season. Roedl now looks forward to competing collegiately as he will run for Eastern Illinois University, the very place he just finished as a high school track athlete this weekend.
