Our Pro Wire Athletes of the Week for May 31 are Vandalia High School Girls Track team’s Hannah Brown and Sophie Bowers.
Junior thrower Hannah Brown became a two-time State medalist at the IHSA 1A Girls State Track Meet after securing fourth place in the Shot Put in this year’s meet. The finish was an improvement from Brown’s ninth place finish at State a year ago and her best throw of 40’ 6” broke her own school record for the third time this season.
Senior sprinter Sophie Bowers became Vandalia High School’s first two-sport individual state medalist after turning in an eighth place finish in the 400m Dash at the IHSA 1A Girls State Track Meet. Bowers’ time of 59.49 seconds was a personal record and was also just shy of the school record. Bowers’ state track medal joins her back-to-back state titles in girls wrestling.
