Altamont seniors Ben Roedl and Hayden Summers secured their spots in the Finals of the IHSA 1A Boys State Track Meet after turning in qualifying performances during Prelims on Thursday. Roedl has advanced on in three jumping events as he reached the needed preliminary qualifier mark of 6’ in the high jump to currently sit in third place, jumped 22’ 1.5” in the Long Jump to currently sit in third place in it as well and then had his biggest moment of the day with a best jump of 45’ 10.5” which was a PR, a new school record and is also the new #19 mark in the event in Illinois. Summers turned in a strong performance in the 300 Hurdles, winning his heat in the event with a time of 40.62 seconds, which is a new PR for him that put him across the line three-quarters of a second ahead of the second place heat finisher. Summers advances on to the Finals on Saturday and currently sits in fourth place in a tight Finals field that is separated by just .91 seconds from the first place to the ninth place advancer to Finals.
