Vandalia High School junior thrower Hannah Brown is now a two-time state medalist after finishing in fourth place in the Shot Put at the IHSA 1A State Track Finals at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston on Saturday. Brown had a best throw of 40’ 6” which was her last attempt of the day. That throw moved her from 10th place, where she stood after the Prelims on Thursday, up to fourth place. That throw is also the new Illinois #11 mark in the event for the 2025 season and is also a new PR for Brown by 9.5 inches over her previous best and it broke her own school record in the Shot Put for the third time this season. This was Brown’s third trip to the State Meet after she qualified but did not place her freshman year and after a 9th place finish in the 2024 State Finals as a sophomore.
