The Altamont Indians got on the board first, but could not hang on, falling to the Casey-Westfield Warriors 4-2 on Wednesday in the IHSA Class 1-A Regional semifinals. Altamont wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Brayden Elam reached on a hit-by-pitch. After Reed Stuemke reached on an error, Elam would come around to score on a single from Kade Milleville. Two batters later, Stuemke would score on a sacrifice fly from Zaine Miller to give the Indians a 2-0 lead. The Warriors would respond in the top of the third inning taking advantage of some defensive miscues to take a 3-2 lead. Casey-Westfield added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning and retired six straight Altamont batters to come away with the 4-2 victory. Altamont’s season comes to an end with a record of 17-10.
