Altamont boys track and field finished in a tie for third place at their own Altamont 1A Sectional on Wednesday and have had six athletes qualify to compete at the IHSA 1A State Track Meet. The Indians tied with Casey-Westfield with 73 points, coming in behind first place Vandalia with 92 and second place Cumberland with 78. Ben Roedl has qualified for State in three events after winning the High Jump, Long Jump and Triple Jump while Hayden Summers has qualified in the 300m Hurdles after taking first place and Brock Wendling has qualified in the Shot Put after taking third place with a state qualifying throw. The Indians have qualified one relay for State with the 4×400 relay (Jacob Johnson, Hayden Bridges, Trent Tedrick, Hayden Summers) taking second place. The IHSA 1A State Meet will be held next week with the Prelims on Thursday, May 29 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
