South Central Uses 10-Run Fourth Inning to Get Big Regional Semifinal Win


South Central softball punched its ticket to the Championship game of the Hutsonville 1A Regional after picking up an 18 to 2 win over North Clay in the regional semifinals on Tuesday. The Lady Cougars ran out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and pushed that lead to 7-0 with three more runs in the second inning. While continuing to hold North Clay scoreless, the Lady Cougars put up one more run in the third inning to go up 8-0. The Cardinals would put their first and only runs on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning, cutting the South Central lead down to six runs, 8-2. The Lady Cougars offense bust the game wide open in the bottom of the fourth though with ten runs coming off of five doubles, one home run, a walk and taking advantage of three North Clay errors to surge ahead 18-2 and close out the win by way of the run rule. South Central improves to 18-10 on the season and will await the result of the other semifinal game between Hutsonville and Oblong to find out their opponent for the Championship game to be played on Friday at 5:00pm in Hutsonville.
