South Central and Mulberry Grove softball got one more regular season game in on Monday, with the Lady Cougars grabbing a 7 to 3 win over the Lady Aces. Mulberry Grove scored first with a run in the bottom of the first inning on a line drive single from Taylor Stone for a 1-0 lead. South Central quickly countered with Amelia Montes leading off the top of the second inning with a solo home run to left field to tie the game at 1-1. With two outs in the inning and a runner on first, Maddie Peddicord hit a two-run home run to left field to put South Central on top 3-1. The Lady Cougars added on to their lead in the top of the fourth with two more runs coming off an error and a wild pitch by the Aces as South Central pushed their lead to 5-1. Mulberry Grove closed their deficit to 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two RBI single from Jenni Mezo. Again the Lady Cougars answered with two runs of their own on a two run home run by Lauren Johnson in the top of the sixth inning for a 7-3 lead that would hold as the final score. South Central ends the regular season at 17-10 and will take on North Clay in the semifinals of the Hutsonville Regional on Tuesday at 5:00pm. Mulberry Grove moves to 12-7 on the season and will face Pawnee in the semifinals of its own Mulberry Grove Regional on Wednesday at 4:30pm.
