Lady Vandals Season Comes to A Close with Regional Quarterfinal Loss at Lawrenceville


Vandalia softball fell to Lawrenceville 9 to 3 despite strong offensive games from Mady McCall and Katy Sefton in the quarterfinals of the Flora 2A Regional. A four-run first inning and a run in the second inning from the Indians put Vandalia down 5-0 heading into the third inning. With two outs, Elaina Hagy walked followed by McCall hitting a single to left field and advancing on the throw to put runners at second and third. Sefton singled to right field to bring in both Hagy and McCall as the Lady Vandals cut the Lawrenceville lead to 5-2. Following a scoreless fourth inning, Vandalia put their third and final run on the scoreboard when McCall hit a home run to left field to cut the Indians lead again, down to 5-3. Lawrenceville scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and added one more in the sixth inning as they handed Vandalia the 9-3 loss. McCall ended the game 3-4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI while Sefton went 3-3 with 2 RBI. Vandalia ends their season with a record of 7-19.
