The IHSA girls softball postseason begins today, but only one area team will be in action today in regional games with the remainder of area teams not playing until Tuesday or Wednesday. In Class 2A, Vandalia opens up postseason play at higher seeded Lawrenceville at 4:30pm today in the quarterfinals of the Flora Regional. The winner moves on to face top seeded Newton in the Semifinals on Tuesday at 4:00pm.
In Class 1A, all area teams will now begin play after today. St. Elmo-Brownstown was set to open up their postseason play in the quarterfinals of the Windsor Regional today against Okaw Valley, but the Timberwolves had to forfeit the game due to not having enough players so SEB moves on to the Semifinals where they will face Windsor/Stew-Stras on Tuesday at 4:30pm. Also in the Windsor Regional Semifinals, Altamont and CHBC open postseason play against each other on Wednesday at 4:30pm with the winner going to the Championship game to take on the winner of WSS and SEB.
South Central will play in the Hutsonville Regional and after a quarterfinal round BYE, they will play on Tuesday at 5:00pm against the winner of Red Hill and North Clay. Mulberry Grove will host its own Regional with Ramsey a part of the field of teams as well. Ramsey will face Hardin Calhoun on Tuesday at 4:30pm in the first semifinal game with the winner of that game going to the Championship game. The second semifinal game will be Mulberry Grove taking on Pawnee. The Mulberry Grove Regional Championship game will be Friday at 4:30pm.
