Altamont High School seniors and twin sisters Abby Weishaar and Gabby Weishaar will continue their athletic careers together as they both have signed to run track collegiately at Greenville University. The signing comes during what has been a breakout season for the sisters. In talking about why GU became the choice for the pair, Gabby says it truly felt like home and was the Christian environment they were looking for.
And Abby Weishaar says being able to take the next step together is exactly what she had hoped the two sprinters.
The Weishaar’s have one more meet left in their high school careers before officially becoming Panthers as they will compete in this week’s IHSA 1A State Track Meet. Gabby is a member of the state qualifying 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams while Abby is a member of the 4×100 relay team and also qualified for State in the 200m Dash and 400m Dash. The two sisters also notched their name in the ACHS Girls Track history books after they and their 4×100 relay teammates Ada Roberts and Katie Tedrick broke the school record in the event just this last week. That record had stood for 25 years.
