The Mulberry Grove Lady Aces got on top early and never looked back, coming away with a 4-1 win over the Altamont Lady Indians on Wednesday. After three and a half scoreless innings of play, the Lady Aces would get on the board with a solo home run from Taylor Stone to take a 1-0 lead. Mulberry Grove would add to that lead in the bottom of the fifth when Jeni Mezo reached on an error, and Lola Johnson walked, Lily Johnson would hit a three-run homer to make it a 4-0 ballgame. Altamont would attempt a comeback in the top of the seventh inning when Madison Tonn doubled and would come around to score on a hit from Sophie Long to cut the deficit to 4-1, but Johnson would strike out the next two batters to secure the 4-1 game. The win improves the Lady Aces to 12-5 on the season. They will be back in action on Thursday to take on Greenville. The loss drops the Lady Aces to 17-9 on the season. They will wrap up the regular season on Friday to take on Champaign Central.
