The Vandalia girls track and field team finished in a tie for fifth place at the Ellis Invite hosted by Altamont High School on Monday. The Lady Vandals tallied 52 points to tie with North Clay in that fifth spot behind the top four finishing teams of Newton, St. Anthony, Teutopolis and Altamont. Vandalia had two event champions as Sophie Bowers took first place in the 200m Dash and the 400m Dash and Hannah Brown finished first in the Shot Put. The Lady Vandals will be back at it today as they compete in the IHSA 1A Sectional at Newton. The top two finishers in each event as well as any other placers meeting the State Qualifying Standards will advance to the IHSA 1A State Finals in Charleston next week.

Hannah Brown – Shot Put, 37’ 11.5”
Third Place:
Hannah Brown – Discus, 100’ 2”
Fourth Place:
Sophie Bowers – 100m Dash, 13.63 seconds
Destinee Rine – 400m Dash, 1:05.60 and High Jump, 4’ 7.75”
Faith Duplayee – Pole Vault, 7’ 6”
Sixth Place:
Joselyn Murray – 1600m Run, 6:28.07
