Altamont girls track and field took fourth place at their own Ellis Invite meet on Monday. The Lady Indians finished with 54 points coming in behind first place Newton with 79, second place St. Anthony with 69 and third place Teutopolis with 63. During the meet, the 4×100 relay team of Gabby Weishaar, Ada Roberts, Katie Tedrick and Abby Weishaar took second place with a time of 51.55 seconds to break the school record of 52.40 seconds that had been in place since 2000. Their new time is the 19th fastest 4×100 time ran in Class 1A this season. The Lady Indians will be back in action today as they compete in the IHSA 1A Sectional today at Newton with field events beginning at 4:00pm and running events starting at 5:15pm. The top two finishers in each event as well as any other placers meeting the State Qualifying Standards will advance to the IHSA 1A State Finals in Charleston next week.
