South Central Can't Overcome Early Deficit In Loss to Neoga

South Central baseball trailed early and despite cutting their deficit to one run, the Cougars couldn’t come back in a 3 to 2 loss to Neoga on Monday. The Indians put up two first inning runs and one more in the second inning to put the Cougars down 3-0. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Luke Shumate singled with one out and Seth Jones followed that up with a single and the runners advanced on a Neoga error to put runners at second and third. Callaway Smith hit a flyball to left field and reached base on an error and that allowed Shumate to score as the Cougars cut it to 3-1. With two outs and Jones still at third, the Cougars scored on a wild pitch to cut their deficit to a single run, 3-2. That wrapped up the game’s scoring as the sixth and seventh innings went by scoreless and South Central suffered the 3-2 loss. The Cougars are now 10-11 on the season and will play again on Wednesday at Olney.
