Altamont Scores Late to Get By Dieterich in Friday Night Game


Altamont baseball put up two runs in the fifth inning to take their first and only lead of the game as they picked up a 2 to 1 win over Dieterich on Senior Night on Friday. After three scoreless innings to start the game, Dieterich took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, It would take till an inning later, but Altamont scored their first runs of the game, as Will Reardon singled and an error on the throw on the play by the Maroons allowed Zaine Miller to score as the Indians tied the game up 1-1. The next batter, Kade Milleville, then doubled to center field to score Reardon as Altamont took the 2-1 lead. Each team put a runner on base in the sixth inning but both runners were stranded as the Indians held their lead and sat the Maroons down one, two, three in the top of the seventh inning to close out the win. The Indians are now 17-6 on the season and are set to host Arcola in a doubleheader today with the first game getting underway at 10:00am.
