Altamont's Early Lead Holds for Win at Robinson


Altamont baseball took an early lead and held off Robinson to put away the 5 to 4 win on Friday night on the road. A sacrifice fly by Brayden Schnarre allowed Cooper McManaway to tag up and score to give the Indians a 1-0 lead in the first inning. That lead quadrupled in the third inning as a RBI single from Dyson Wagner brought Kade Milleville and Owen Reardon home for a 3-1 lead before Kaiden Wolff reach base on an error and Schnarre scored on that same error to push the Altamont lead to 4-0. A RBI groundout from McManaway in the top of the fourth inning scored Will Reardon from third to further push out the Altamont lead, to 5-0. Robinson was able to score their first two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the Altamont lead to 5-2 and then added on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the Indians lead to 5-4. That would hold as the final score as Altamont held off Robinson for the win. The Indians are now 15-5 on the season and will play in the Flora Round Robin today taking on Johnston City at 12:00pm and then host Flora at 2:00pm.
