Our Pro Wire Athletes of the Week for May 3 are South Central softball senior Kyra Swift and Vandalia softball sophomores Bella Walk and Mady McCall.
South Central was held to just one game this week due to rainouts, but Swift made the most of the Lady Cougars one game as she went 5-5 at the plate with a double and 3 RBI in the Lady Cougars win 10-1 conference win over North Clay. Swift also went 4-10 with 5 runs and 4 RBI last week as she is batting .600 with 5 runs scored and 7 RBI over South Central’s last four games.
Vandalia suffered two close conference losses this week, but Freshman Bella Walk and Sophomore Mady McCall had strong weeks for the Lady Vandals. Walk, a catcher and infielder, went 5-8 at the plate from the leadoff spot with 3 runs scored for a .625 batting average and .625 on base percentage this week. Batting in the third spot in the order, pitcher and infielder McCall went 5-7 at the plate with three runs scored and three RBI giving her a .714 batting average for the week a .625 on base percentage.
