Altamont Shut Out at Home by Charleston

Altamont baseball was held to just a pair of hits in a 9 to 0 shutout at the hands of Charleston at home on Wednesday. Charleston opened the scoring with a 6-run second inning and added on three more in the third inning to get out to their quick 9-0 lead. Altamont put their first runner on base in the bottom of the third inning when Blake Berg led the inning off with a walk. Owen Reardon would come in to courtesy run for Berg and advanced to third base when Kade Milleville collected the Indians first hit of the game on a single to left field. Both runners were stranded on base though when the inning ended on a strikeout. Altamont did not have another baserunner until the bottom of the fifth inning when Parker Bell drew a walk, but he was stranded on base to end the inning. The Indians had Keegan Schultz draw a walk and Brayden Elam was hit by a pitch to put two runners on with one in scoring positions, but Altamont again stranded the runners on base as they ended the inning on a strikeout. Berg reached base again with one out in the seventh hoping to give Altamont a last chance to score, but a strike out and fielders choice groundout ended the game. Altamont drops to 14-4 on the season and will play the second of what is expected to five games in four days when they host North Clay today.
