Vandalia senior wrestler Sophie Bowers is a back-to-back State Champion after taking first in the 125lb weight class of the 2025 IHSA Girls Wrestling Individual State Finals on Saturday afternoon. Bowers dominated junior Elise Burkut of Wheeling in the title match to win by Major Decision, 10-0, scoring on two takedowns, a reversal and getting two points for a near fall in the third period. Bowers ends her senior season undefeated at 42-0 with two IHSA State titles under her belt and having taken first in every tournament she competed in this season.
