Sophie Bowers is into the Championship Semifinals of the IHSA Girls Wrestling Individual State Tournament after going 2-0 on Friday morning. Bowers got a win by Tech Fall in the Preliminary Round before securing a win by Decision in the Championship Quarterfinals. After her quick 2-0 start, Bowers will be off until Saturday morning when the Semifinals will begin at 9:00am. A Semifinal win would put her in the Championship at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon while a loss would send her to Wrestlebacks.
Preliminary Round: Bowers beat Raynisha Sims of Chicago Lakeview by Tech Fall (17-1) in 3:06 in the Preliminary Round.
Championship Quarterfinals Round: Bowers beat Lilly White of Chicago Bartlett by Decision (5-0).
Championship Semifinals Round: Bowers (40-0) will face Gianna Arzer (44-4) of Grayslake Central.
