Vandalia’s Preston Waughtel Takes 2nd Place at 120lbs at IHSA 1A Individual Wrestling State Finals

Vandalia wrestling sophomore Preston Waughtel lost to Brayden Teunissen of Marian Central Catholic by Decision (2-1) in the Championship match of the 120lb weight class to take 2^nd Place at the IHSA 1A Individual State Finals at the State Farm Center in Champaign this evening. Waughtel is now a two-time state medalist as his 2nd place finish this year joins his 1st place finish in the 106lb weight class in the 2024 Individual State Finals. Waughtel has now finished in the top 2 in the state in each of his first two years of high school wrestling. With his strong run through this year’s State Finals, Waughtel now stands at 51-2 on the season.
