Altamont girls basketball couldn’t maintain their late lead as a fourth quarter run by Father McGivney handed the Lady Indians a 33 to 28 loss at home on Monday night. Altamont was able to take a slim 11-10 lead by the end of the first quarter after Ella Nelson knocked down a pair of three-pointers and Kaylee Lurkins hit a pair of baskets in the frame as well. Both teams would struggle to score in the second quarter though as the Griffins would just outscore the Lady Indians 3-2 in the quarter to see the game tied up at 13-13 at halftime. Another Nelson three-pointer, a pair of buckets from Avery Aldrich and Kylie Osteen’s only basket of the game would allow Altamont to outscore Father McGivney 9-5 in the third quarter for a 22-18 lead to begin the fourth quarter. The Griffins would go on a late run for a 15-6 scoring advantage in the fourth to come from behind and beat Altamont 33-28. With the loss, the Lady Indians drop to 12-17 on the season. They will wrap up regular season play on Thursday as they are on the road at Paris for the finale.
