St. Elmo-Brownstown basketball couldn’t overcome a rough third quarter as they fell to Dieterich 61 to 41 in the quarterfinals of the National Trail Conference Tournament on Wednesday night. The Eagles matched the Maroons basket for basket in the opening quarter until a late run had SEB trailing 14-7 to end the first. A trio of big three-pointers from the right corner by Benji Lowe and one each from Gavin Sanders and Graidon Wilhour in the second quarter would fuel a run by the Eagles who would outscore Dieterich 17-15 in the quarter and trail 29-24 at halftime. SEB would struggle stopping the Maroons in the third quarter as they were outscored 20-6 and would go down 49-30 to end the third quarter. Dieterich then outscored the Eagles 12-11 in the fourth to close out the win as SEB was dealt the 61-41 loss. SEB drops to 9-10 on the season and will go into the Consolation side of the bracket where they will face CHBC tonight at 5:00pm with the winner of that game to go into the Consolation Semifinals to South Central on Friday at 6:15pm.
