VCHS Cheerleaders Finish Top 10 in Small Varsity Game Day Division at ICCA Championships


The Vandalia High School Cheerleading team turned in a top 10 finish in one of the two divisions they competed at in the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICCA) Championships in Springfield this past weekend. The Vandals qualified for State in both the Small Varsity Routine division and the Small Varsity Game Day division. With 22 teams competing, VCHS placed 10th in the Game Day division with a score of 83.30. In the Small Varsity Routine division, the Vandals came in 12th place out of the 31 competing teams, turning in a score of 82.63 and being just 0.42 points way from a second top 10 finish.

Also during the weekend, senior Makenzie Emerick, a finalist for the ICCA Scholarships Awards, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the ICCA as part of their $25,000 in scholarships they awarded this year amongst the 10 finalists.
