BSE Ranked in First AP High School Girls Basketball Poll of the Season


The first Associated Press Illinois High School girls basketball rankings of the season were released on Wednesday and the Brownstown-St. Elmo Lady Bombers find themselves in the top 10 of the Class 1A rankings. At 6-2 on the season, BSE comes in at #8 in this week’s rankings. The two losses that the Bombers have on the season are to a pair of larger 2A schools in Breese Mater Dei and Camp Point Central (Central Southeastern). CSE is 5-1 on the season with their lone loss coming to Mater Dei and they are ranked at #9 in the Class 2A poll and even received one first place vote. Mater Dei is 6-1 on the season with their lone loss coming to Class 4A Edwardsville and they are ranked 13th. Fellow National Trail Conference team Effingham St. Anthony stands at 6-1 on the season and are ranked #2 in Class 1A. The Bombers will have a chance to add a couple more notches to their win column before the week is up as the host Dieterich tonight in NTC action and then go on the road to face Webber on Friday evening.
