Roedl Brings Home Three Top 5 Finishes, Monnet Places 6th at IHSA Boys State Track Finals


Altamont junior Ben Roedl brought home three pieces of hardware on Saturday while BSE junior Trenten Monnet earned a medal in his first trip to the IHSA Boys State Track Finals. Roedl finished in the top 5 of all three of his jumping events as he would take third place in the High Jump with a height of 6’ 5.5”, take fourth place in the Long Jump with a best jump of 21’ 8” and would take fifth place in the Triple Jump with a best jump of 43’ 8.75”. Brownstown-St. Elmo junior thrower also got on the medal stand on Saturday as his personal best throw of 156’ 8” in the Prelims would carry over to Saturday and give him 6th place in the Discus.

Also competing in Saturday’s Finals was Altamont sophomore vaulter Jacob Veteto and CHBC freshman distance runner Griffin Vaughn. After reaching the Finals qualifying height on Thursday, Veteto would reach a height of 12’ 9.5” to finish in 11th place overall. Vaughn, running at State for the first time at State this weekend due to the 3200m (2-mile) run only being contested on Saturday for Finals, ran a 10:26.05 that would have him finishing 23rd overall in the event.
