Brownstown-St. Elmo baseball got its first win of the season on Friday, beating Hillsboro at home, 10-8. The Bombers were able to get out ahead early with a pair of first inning runs and tacked on another three in the bottom of the second for a 5-0 lead. Hillsboro put their first run on the board in the top of the third, but the Bombers answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth to maintain a five run lead, 6-1. Hillsboro closed the BSE lead to 6-3 in the top of the fifth, but a 4-run bottom of the fifth inning pushed the Bombers advantage to 10-3. The Hiltoppers put together a late run with four runs in the sixth inning and added on one last run in the top of the seventh to cut the game to 10-8, but the Bombers would hold on for the win. BSE is now 1-2 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday against North Clay.
