St. Elmo-Brownstown softball dropped to 0-2 to start the season, falling to Cumberland 14-2 at home on Thursday. After the Pirates put 6 runs on the board in the top of the first, the Eagles were able to get a run across when Daisy Chandler scored on a steal of home to cut the Cumberland lead to 6-1. The Pirates added on two runs in the top of second to extend their lead over SEB to 8-1. In the bottom of the third, Dayana Haslett singled to reach base, advanced to second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on another wild pitch and then stole home to score the Eagles second run of the game to cut their deficit to 8-2. Cumberland responded with six runs in the top of the fourth to push their lead to 14-2 which would be the games final score. SEB is now 0-2 on the season and will play their third consecutive home game to start the season on Monday when they host Dieterich.
