All six of the I70Sports area girls basketball teams now know where their postseason basketball journeys will begin after the IHSA released the pairings and schedules for postseason play that gets underway a week from today on Saturday, February 10.
In Class 2A, Vandalia is the #12 seed in the sub-Sectional and will compete in the Breese Mater Dei Regional. The Lady Vandals have drawn South Central Conference rival and #5 seed Greenville for their quarterfinal matchup that will be Saturday, February 10 at 1:00pm at Greenville. The winner of that game will advance to face #3 seed and regional host Breese Mater Dei on Tuesday, February 13 at 7:30pm.
In Class 1A, our five I70Sports schools will be spread out across four regionals. At the Dieterich Regional, Altamont is the #2 seed in the sub-Sectional and will have a quarterfinal round BYE. They will await the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between #8 Neoga and #9 Cerro Gordo for their first postseason matchup in the first regional semifinal game on Monday, February 12 at 6:00pm. The winner of that game would advance to the Regional Championship on Thursday, February 15 at 6:00pm.
At the Mt. Olive 1A Regional, Brownstown-St. Elmo is the #3 seed will open up play in the quarterfinals as they will host #13 Bunker Hill on Saturday, February 10 at 1:00pm with the winner of the game advancing to the semifinals where they will face the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between #8 Maryville Christian and #12 Metro East Lutheran on Monday, February 12 at 7:30pm.
At the Effingham St. Anthony 1A Regional, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City is the #7 seed in the sub-Sectional and will get to host their quarterfinal round matchup when they face Decatur Unity Christian on Saturday, February 10 at 1:00pm. The winner will advance to take on #1 seed Effingham St. Anthony in the semifinals on Monday, February 12 at 6:00pm.
At the Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Regional, #10 Ramsey will be in action in the quarterfinals against #5 North Clay on Saturday, February 10 at 2:00pm in Louisville. The winner will advance to the semifinals where they will take on #4 seed South Central who received a quarterfinal round BYE. The South Central vs. Ramsey/North Clay semifinal game will be on Tuesday, February 13 at 7:00pm.
