Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City senior middle hitter/blocker Karlee Smith has earned an invite to compete in the 2nd Annual Bird Cage Classic Volleyball Games set for November 18 at Warrensburg-Latham High School. Smith is one of 48 seniors from the Central Illinois Region chosen to participate in the games that will feature North, South, East and West teams with 12 girls on each. Athletes will check in before being able to run through a short 45 minute practice before competing. Smith will represent the South All-Stars. The North will take on the East at 5:00pm with the South taking on the West at 6:00pm. The losing teams of those two teams will then meet each other at 7:00pm while the winning teams will then face each other at 8:00pm.
Smith is coming off of a senior season in which she tallied 124 kills, 52 blocks, 31 aces and 67 digs for the Bobcats. Smith, just last week, was named as the MVP for the Egyptian Illini Conference and was also named Second Team All Conference for the National Trail Conference for the 2023 season.
