Our All Area Baseball Players of the Year are Mason Robinson of Altamont and Reid Well of Vandalia.
Mason put together a tremendous year on the mound and at the plate to help lead the Altamont Indians to a very strong season. He hit .525 BA/.579 OBP/.848 SLG with 4 HR, 41 RBI and 52 total hits. On the mound, Mason was 4-2 with a 2.60 ERA and 57 K’s in 32 innings pitched.
Reid handled the top assignments on the mound for the Vandals in his Senior Year. The year after throwing a shutout for a Regional Championship, Reid went a deceiving 3-4 in his Senior Year with 53 innings pitched and 47 strikeouts with a 3.02 ERA, pitching in the big SCC games throughout the year for the Vandals. Reid also was a .406 BA/.462 OBP/.574 SLG with 2 HR, 27 RBI and 26 RS for the Vandals at the plate and played a near flawless 3B.
Reid and Mason will be teammates starting in the fall when they will be at Kaskaskia College.
