Altamont 7th Grade Boys Claim State Championship, Several Area Athletes Bring Home Hardware


Several area junior high track athletes have brought home hardware from the IESA 1A and 2A State Track Meet with the Altamont 7th grade boys team bringing home the top spot with a 7-2A state championship team title. Altamont tallied 38 points to finish four points ahead of second place Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes and 12 points ahead of third place Brimfield and Carthage.

Area Team Finishes (If Team Scored Any Points) and State Medalists:

Altamont:

7th grade Boys Team – 1st Place

  • Cooper McManaway: 400m Dash, 1st Place (56.12 seconds); 800m Run, 1st Place (2:09.14); 1600m Run, 2nd Place (4:57.18); Shot Put, 1st Place (41’ 1”)

8th Grade Boys Team – 30th

  • Hayden Bridges: High Jump, 7th Place (5’ 5”)
  • Kaiden Wolff: Pole Vault, 4th Place (9’ 0”)

7th Grade Girls Team – 23rd

  • Reagan Kuenstler: 800m Run, 6th Place (2:32.48)
  • Justyce Higgs: Discus, 7th Place (84’ 2”)
  • 4×400 Relay: (4:39.65) A. Ruholl, B. Swank, L. Burrow, B. Starnes

8th Grade Girls Team – 20th

  • Laila Hankins: Pole Vault, 4th Place (7’ 6”)

7th grade Boys Team – 13th Place

  • Slade Rauch: 100m Dash, 5th Place (12.69 seconds); 200m Dash, 5th Place (26.00 seconds); Discus, 2nd Place (119’ 5”)

8th Grade Boys Team – 41st

  • Remington Howell: 110m Hurdles, 6th Place (17.02 seconds)

Brownstown-St. Elmo:

8th Grade Girls Team – 42nd

  • Leslie Felmlee: Long Jump, 7th Place (15’ 1”)
