After going 1-0 on the first day of the Dieterich Girls Holiday Tournament, Brownstown-St. Elmo girls went 1-1 on Day 2 and won a head-to-head tiebreaker in pool play to get themselves to the Championship game of the tournament on Wednesday evening. In their first game of the day, BSE fell to South Central 49-46 to move to 1-1 in pool play. South Central lead BSE 14-13 after one quarter and then pushed their lead to 24-19 at halftime. BSE would outscore South Central 15-7 I the third quarter and pull ahead 34-31 heading into the fourth. South Central would outscore BSE 18-12 in the final quarter though and beat BSE 49-46.
In their second game of the day, BSE got a hard fought win over Newton 39-37. BSE would trail 7-5 at the end of the first quarter but would use an 11-5 run in the second to pull ahead 16-12 at halftime. Newton would outscore BSE 11-9 in the third as the Bomber clung to a 25-23 lead after three quarters. The Bombers and Newton would each score 14 points in the fourth as the Bombers would hold on for the close 38-36 win. That win would then put both BSE and Newton at 2-1 in pool play so a tiebreaker was used to break the tie and with head-to-competition being the first tiebreaker and BSE beating Newton, the Bombers finish first in the pool and now advance to the Championship game on Wednesday evening at 6pm where they will take on Marshall.
