Vandalia Boys Golf Advances to State With 2nd Place Finish; Chase Laack is Individual Sectional Champion

The Vandalia boys golf team has qualified for the IHSA 1A State Tournament after tying for 2nd Place at the McLeansboro (Hamilton County) 1A Sectional on Monday at Green Hills Golf Club in Mt. Vernon. The Vandals tied with Effingham St. Anthony, each with a score of 321, just one stroke behind Sectional Champion Oblong with 320. Individually, Senior Chase Laack claimed Medalist honors and is the Individual Sectional Champion after shooting a 1 over 72. Sophomore Conner McCall finished in a 4-way tie for 6th Place shooting a 6 over 77. Senior Dylan Halford and Sophomore Jonah Beesley both shot a 15 over 86 to come in tied for 41st and Senior Jacob Schaal shot a 22 over 93 to come in 84th. The Vandals will compete at the 1A State Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington.
